gusty day

Nothing but 30 - 40 mph gusts most of last night and all day today.  Plopped my first pineapple top into water on Saturday...had my first epic fail cheese making attempt.  Long visit with my new friend Phil Light on Sunday afternoon.  Caught and relocated mouse #10 this morning.  Stayed inside most of the day while stuff blew around outside. Prepped pineapple top #2.   Had an epic succeed cheese making attempt this afternoon.  47,57,38,0,W,0

Rodents attract snakes. You don't want a den of rattle snakes under the Field Lab.

Good luck with those pineapple tops. I'm sure I can learn a trick or two.

Have you heard of this book about goat herding, cheese making, and homesteading: http://www.amazon.com/Goat-Song-Seasonal-History-Herding/dp/1416561005

It is awesome. And he goes into detail about making the cheese. He goes to France to learn and is given some old rennet and the whole bit.

It's nice having that greenhouse courtyard to work in when it's windy outside.

I admire your decision not to kill or poison the field mice around your place. Not many would take the time and effort to relocate them like you do.

Cheese is one of the good things in life. How nice for you that you've got cheese making down pat, almost!
Any guy with red hair and a "Pittsburgh Marathon" T-Shirt is O.K. by me. Glad y'all had a good visit.
